Riley Peterson is a Registered Dietician Nutritionist in Denver, Colorado. She is a graduate with a degree in Nutrition from California Polytechnic University – San Luis Obispo and received her RDN certification through Children’s Hospital in Aurora, CO. Riley owns Balanced Health Nutrition Consulting, where she works with a diverse population with unique medical backgrounds. Whether an athlete looking to enhance their performace, to those suffering with renal disease, struggling with obesity, or searching from help overcoming disordered eating habits, Riley creates and monitors nutrition plans for complex patients, utilizing relevant nutrition research to provide the most progressive and effective interventions possible.
In addition to her clinical and private nutrition consulting experience, she also was employed by the Vitamin D Council for three years as the Community Coordinator and Program Manager. During this time, Riley authored dozens of research blogs, reviewing and providing commentary on scientific research pertaining to vitamins, minerals, and human health. Her education and work history provide testament to her extensive experience in research and clinical evaluation of nutrition and health.
As a professional in the nutrition field, Riley is inspired by the daily progress of health research. In working with a clinical population, she can see the effect of new research and ideas put into action to save lives. Even more so, she is motivated by the resilience and courage of the young patients who stay at the hospital. She feels that her ambition in this field is most significantly impacted by those she works with, and hopes that the work she can complete in her career will someday improve the lives of such at risk populations.
In her spare time, Riley loves to lead an active lifestyle. She is an avid yogi, hiker, biker and swimmer, and loves to spend as much time as she can outdoors. In addition to these activities, she likes to spend her time cooking, reading, and playing with her Great Pyrenees mix, Shai. To Riley, health and happiness are integral to one another, and she enjoys incorporating this idea into her daily life, as well as her professional practice.
Riley writes and edits content for Go Integrative Health, contributes to public outreach efforts, and collaborates with the team to ensure the organization’s vision is being fulfilled.
